Adhyāya 90: Babhruvāhana’s Reception and the Commencement of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Aśvamedha
यदा दानरुचि: स्याद् वै तदा धर्मो न सीदति । अनवेक्ष्य सुतस्नेहं कलत्रस्नेहमेव च
yadā dānaruciḥ syād vai tadā dharmo na sīdati | anavekṣya sutasnehaṃ kalatrasnehameva ca ||
ದಾನ ಮಾಡುವ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಉದಯವಾದಾಗ ಧರ್ಮ ಕುಸಿಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಪುತ್ರಸ್ನೇಹವನ್ನೂ ಪತ್ನೀಸ್ನೇಹವನ್ನೂ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸದೆ—ಅಂದರೆ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಒಳಗಾಗದೆ—ದಾನ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
