विशीर्णबन्धने तस्मिन्‌ गते कृष्णाजिने महीम्‌

Transliteration

viśīrṇabandhane tasmin gate kṛṣṇājine mahīm, vidaśyāsthen valmīkaṁ viveśātha sa kuṇḍale |

Translation

ವೈಶಂಪಾಯನನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಬಂಧನವು ಚಿದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಜಿನವು ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದ ತಕ್ಷಣ, ಒಂದು ಸರ್ಪದ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಿತ್ತು. ಅದು ಐರಾವತಕುಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ ತಕ್ಷಕ. ಅಜಿನದೊಳಗೆ ಇಡಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ಮಣಿಮಯ ಕುಂಡಲಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡು, ಅವನ್ನು ಹಲ್ಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ತ್ವರಿತವಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ವಲ್ಮೀಕದೊಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿದನು.
