तथैव पुत्रपौत्राणां मम ये निहता युधि । “ब्रह्मन्! जो मित्रके लिये युद्धमें मारे गये उन राजाओंकी क्या गति हुई होगी? तथा जो रणभूमिमें वीरगतिको प्राप्त हुए हैं
tathaiva putrapautrāṇāṁ mama ye nihatā yudhi |
ವೈಶಂಪಾಯನನು ಹೇಳಿದನು— ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಹತರಾದ ನನ್ನ ಪುತ್ರ-ಪೌತ್ರರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ— ಹೇ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್! ಮಿತ್ರನಿಗಾಗಿ ಸಮರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲಿಯಾದ ಆ ರಾಜರಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಗತಿ ದೊರಕಿತು? ಮತ್ತು ರಣಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವೀರಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದ ನನ್ನ ಪುತ್ರ-ಪೌತ್ರರಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಗತಿ ಲಭಿಸಿತು?
