The Duty to Fulfill Promised Gifts
अपि चोदाहरन्तीमं धर्मशास्त्रविदो जना: । अश्वानां श्यामकर्णानां सहस्रेण स मुच्यते
api codāharantīmaṁ dharmaśāstravido janāḥ | aśvānāṁ śyāmakarṇānāṁ sahasreṇa sa mucyate ||
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು— ಇನ್ನೂ, ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರು ಈ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯನ್ನೂ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ: ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞಾಭಂಗದ ಪಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾದವನು, ಕಪ್ಪು ಕಿವಿಗಳಿರುವ (ಶ್ಯಾಮಕರ್ಣ) ಕುದುರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾವಿರ ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಆ ದೋಷದಿಂದ ಮುಕ್ತನಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ.
