प्राणान् दत्त्वा कपोताय यत् प्राप्ते शिबिना पुरा । तां गतिं लभते दत्त्वा द्विजस्यान्नं विशाम्पते
prāṇān dattvā kapotāya yat prāpte śibinā purā | tāṁ gatiṁ labhate dattvā dvijasya annaṁ viśāmpate prajānātha |
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ಪ್ರಜಾನಾಥ! ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ ಶಿಬಿಯು ಪಾರಿವಾಳದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನೇ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿ ಪಡೆದ ಪರಮಗತಿಯನ್ನು, ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣನಿಗೆ ಅನ್ನದಾನ ಮಾಡುವವನು ಸಹ ಅದೇ ಗತಿಯಾಗಿ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ।
