दानफलप्रकरणम् — उपानहदानं, तिलदानं, भूमिदानं, गोदानं, अन्नदानं च

Gifts and Their Stated Results: Footwear, Sesame, Land, Cows, and Food

अप्यल्पं प्रददुः सर्वे पृथिव्या इति नः श्रुतम्‌ । भूमिमेव ददुः सर्वे भूमिं ते भुञज्जते जना:

apy alpaṁ pradaduḥ sarve pṛthivyā iti naḥ śrutam | bhūmim eva daduḥ sarve bhūmiṁ te bhuñjate janāḥ ||

ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ಪೃಥ್ವಿಯ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಭಾಗವನ್ನಾದರೂ ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದವರೂ ಭೂಮಿದಾನದ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಫಲವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ನಾವು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ದಾನ ಮಾಡುವವನು ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನೇ ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದವನಾಗಿ ಎಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಜನರು ಪರಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದೇ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಭೋಗವಾಗಿ ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ।
