Śulka, Kanyā, and Dauhitra-Riktha: Discourse on Bride-Price and Inheritance Rights (शुल्क-कन्या-दौहित्र-रिक्थविचारः)
एतत् श्र॒ुत्वा तु विपुलो विषण्णवदनो5भवत् | एवं तीव्रतपाश्चाहं कष्टश्षायं परिश्रम:
etat śrutvā tu vipulo viṣaṇṇavadano 'bhavat | evaṁ tīvratapaś cāhaṁ kaṣṭaśṣāyaṁ pariśramaḥ |
ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ವಿಪುಲನ ಮುಖವು ವಿಷಾದದಿಂದ ಕುಗ್ಗಿತು. ಅವನು ಯೋಚಿಸಿದನು—“ನಾನು ಇಷ್ಟು ತೀವ್ರ ತಪಸ್ಸು ಮಾಡುವವನಾದರೂ ನನ್ನ ದುರ್ಗತಿ ಆಗುವುದಾದರೆ, ಈ ತಪಸ್ಸಿನ ಘೋರ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮವೆಲ್ಲ ಕೇವಲ ಕಷ್ಟವಾಗಿಯೇ ತೋರುತ್ತದೆ.”
