Vivāha-dharma: Kanyā-pradāna, Śulka, and Pāṇigrahaṇa-niṣṭhā (अनुशासन पर्व, अध्याय ४४)

स्थितिं च धर्मे जग्राह स तस्माद्‌ गुरुवत्सल: । अनुज्ञातश्न गुरुणा चचारानुत्तमं तप:

sthitiṁ ca dharme jagrāha sa tasmād guruvatsalaḥ | anujñātaś ca guruṇā cacārānuttamaṁ tapaḥ ||

ಗುರುವತ್ಸಲನಾದ ವಿಪುಲನು ಗುರುವಿನಿಂದ ‘ಧರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿರಲಿ’ ಎಂಬ ವರವನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡನು. ನಂತರ ಗುರುವಿನ ಅನುಮತಿ ಪಡೆದು ಅವನು ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ತಪಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದನು।
