भीष्म उवाच इत्युक्तो विपुलस्तेन तपस्वी नियतेन्द्रिय:

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | ity ukto vipulas tena tapasvī niyatendriyaḥ |

Translation

ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ರಾಜನೇ! ಗುರುವು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸೂರ್ಯನಂತೆ ದೀಪ್ತಿಮಾನ, ಇಂದ್ರಿಯನಿಗ್ರಹ ಹೊಂದಿದ, ಸದಾ ಕಠೋರ ತಪಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತನಾದ, ಧರ್ಮಜ್ಞನೂ ಸತ್ಯವಾದಿಯೂ ಆದ ವಿಪುಲನು “ತಥಾಸ್ತು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಗುರುಆಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸಿದನು. ನಂತರ, ಮಹಾರಾಜ, ಗುರುವು ಹೊರಡಲು ತೊಡಗಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಈ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿದನು.
