अहिंसयित्वा ब्रह्महत्याविधानम् / Brahmahatyā incurred without physical violence

मार्कण्डेय उवाच अश्वमेधसहस्रं च सत्यं च तुलया धृतम्‌ । नाभिजानामि यद्यस्य सत्यस्यार्धमवाप्तरुयात्‌

Transliteration

Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca— aśvamedha-sahasraṃ ca satyaṃ ca tulayā dhṛtam | nābhijānāmi yad yasya satyasyārdham avāptum arhati ||

Translation

ಮಾರ್ಕಂಡೇಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ತೂಕದ ತ್ರಾಸಿನ ಒಂದು ತಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾವಿರ ಅಶ್ವಮೇಧ ಯಜ್ಞಗಳನ್ನು, ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ತಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟು ತೂಗಿದರೂ, ಆ ಯಜ್ಞಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಸತ್ಯದ ಅರ್ಧಕ್ಕೂ ಸಮವಾಗುವವೆಯೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಹೇಳಲಾರೆ. ಸತ್ಯದ ಮೌಲ್ಯ ಅಪಾರ.
