प्रयत्नं कृतवन्तो5पि दृश्यन्ते ह्फला नरा: । मार्गत्यायशतैरर्थानमार्गश्वापर: सुखी

Transliteration

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | prayatnaṃ kṛtavanto 'pi dṛśyante hy aphalā narāḥ | mārgatyāyaśatair arthān amārgaś cāparaḥ sukhī ||

Translation

ಯುಧಿಷ್ಠಿರನು ಹೇಳಿದನು— ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಫಲವಿಲ್ಲದವರಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುವವರು ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ಒಬ್ಬನು ನೂರಾರು ಧರ್ಮ್ಯ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಿಂದ ಧನವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತಿರಲು, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನು ಕುಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದರೂ ಧನಬಲದಿಂದ ಸುಖಿಯಾಗಿರುವಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಾನೆ.
