मार्गहिस्थ च ये मार्ग न यच्छन्त्यल्पबुद्धय: । पाद्या्हस्य च ये पाद्यं न ददत्यल्पबुद्धय:

Transliteration

mārga-sthāś ca ye mārgaṁ na yacchanty alpa-buddhayaḥ | pādyārhasya ca ye pādyaṁ na dadaty alpa-buddhayaḥ ||

Translation

ಅಲ್ಪಬುದ್ಧಿಗಳು—ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದರೂ ದಾರಿ ತೋರಿಸಬೇಕಾದವರಿಗೆ ದಾರಿ ತೋರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಪಾದ್ಯಾರ್ಹನಾದ ಪೂಜ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗೆ ಪಾದ್ಯ (ಪಾದ ತೊಳೆಯಲು ನೀರು) ನೀಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
