Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
अर्द्धमानाश्च विबुधा ग्रहेण सुबलीयसा । शिवदत्तवरान् जष्नुरसुरेन्द्रान सुरा भूशम्
arddhamānāś ca vibudhā graheṇa subalīyasā | śivadattavarān jaṣṇur asurendrān surā bhūśam ||
ವಾಸುದೇವನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಬಲಶಾಲಿಯಾದ ಗ್ರಹನು ದೇವತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಡಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದಾಗ, ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಒತ್ತಡದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರೂ ಶಿವನ ವರ ಪಡೆದ ಅಸುರೇಂದ್ರರ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರತಿಹೋರಾಟ ಮಾಡಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿದರು; ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರ ನಡುವೆ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯಿತು।
