देवार्थ पितृयज्ञार्थमन्नं श्रद्धाउ55हतं मया । न दत्तमर्थकामेन देयमन्नं पुरा किल

Transliteration

devārthaṁ pitṛyajñārtham annaṁ śraddhayā ujjhitaṁ mayā | na dattam arthakāmena deyam annaṁ purā kila ||

Translation

ಪೂರ್ವಜನ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ಪಿತೃಯಜ್ಞಕ್ಕೂ ನಾನು ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆಯಿಂದ ಅನ್ನವನ್ನು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ; ಆದರೆ ಧನಲೋಭದಿಂದ, ದಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯವಾದ ಆ ಅನ್ನವನ್ನೂ ನಾನು ದಾನ ಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.
