Duḥṣanta–Śakuntalā: Gandharva Marriage and Succession Condition
नाहं दद्यां प्रियं पुत्र मम प्राणैर्गरीयसम् । समय: क्रियतामेष न शक््यमतिवर्तितुम्
nāhaṃ dadyāṃ priyaṃ putra mama prāṇair garīyasam | samayaḥ kriyatām eṣa na śakyam ativartitum ||
“ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಿಯ ಪುತ್ರನು ನನಗೆ ಪ್ರಾಣಗಳಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಮಿಗಿಲಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಿಯನು; ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಹು ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ನೀಡಲಾರೆ. ಅವನು ಮর্ত್ಯಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಅವಧಿಯನ್ನು ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿರಿ—ಆ ಮಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಮೀರುವುದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ.”
