Duḥṣantasya Vana-praveśaḥ
King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
ब्रह्मणो ब्राह्मणानां च तथानुग्रहकाड्क्षया । विव्यास वेदान् यस्मात् स तस्माद् व्यास इति स्मृत:
brahmaṇo brāhmaṇānāṁ ca tathānugrahakāṅkṣayā | vivyāsa vedān yasmāt sa tasmād vyāsa iti smṛtaḥ ||
ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನಿಗೂ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಿಗೂ ಅನುಗ್ರಹ ತೋರಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಇಚ್ಛೆಯಿಂದ ಅವರು ವೇದಗಳನ್ನು ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಿ ವಿಭಜಿಸಿದರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ‘ವ್ಯಾಸ’ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಸ್ಮರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು.
