देवसत्रे मृत्युनिरोधः, पूर्वेन्द्राणां मानुषावतरणम्, द्रौपदी-वरकथनम्

ततः कर्णमुखानू् दृष्ट्वा क्षत्रियान् युद्धदुर्मदान् । सम्पेततुरभीतौ तौ गजौ प्रतिगजानिव
tataḥ karṇamukhān dṛṣṭvā kṣatriyān yuddha-durmadān | sampetatū rabhītau tau gajau pratigajān iva ||
ನಂತರ ಕರ್ಣನನ್ನು ಮುಂಚೂಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟು ಯುದ್ಧಮದದಿಂದ ಉನ್ಮತ್ತರಾದ ಕ್ಷತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನು ಕಂಡು, ಆ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಸಹೋದರರು ಭಯವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಧಾವಿಸಿದರು—ಮದೋನ್ಮತ್ತ ಎರಡು ಆನೆಗಳು ಪ್ರತಿಯಾನೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಎರಗುವಂತೆ.
