vaiśampāyana uvāca | kururāje hi raṅgasth(e) bhīme ca balināṁ vare | pakṣapātakṛtasnehaḥ sa dvidheva abhavaj janaḥ ||
ವೈಶಂಪಾಯನನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಓ ಜನಮೇಜಯ! ಕುರುರಾಜಕುಮಾರ ದುರ್ಯೋಧನನು ಮತ್ತು ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನಾದ ಭೀಮಸೇನನು ರಂಗಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಇಳಿದು ಗದಾಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿದಾಗ, ಪಕ್ಷಪಾತದಿಂದ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಸ್ನೇಹದಿಂದ ಪ್ರೇರಿತವಾದ ಜನಸಮೂಹವು যেন ಎರಡು ಪಾಳಯಗಳಾಗಿ ವಿಭಜಿತವಾದಂತೆ ಆಯಿತು.
