Adhyaya 89: शौचाचारलक्षणम् — सदाचार, भैक्ष्यचर्या, प्रायश्चित्त, द्रव्यशुद्धि, आशौच-निर्णय
वर्जयेत्सर्वयत्नेन वासो ऽन्यैर् विधृतं द्विजाः कौशेयाविकयो रूक्षैः क्षौमाणां गौरसर्षपैः

ಓ ದ್ವಿಜರೇ, ಇತರರು ಧರಿಸಿದ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಸರ್ವಯತ್ನದಿಂದ ವರ್ಜಿಸಬೇಕು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಅಥವಾ ಉಣ್ಣೆಯ ರುಕ್ಷ ಬಟ್ಟೆ, ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ಷೌಮ/ಲಿನನ್ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಕಠಿಣಗೊಳಿಸಿದದ್ದನ್ನು ಅಥವಾ ಬಿಳಿಬಣ್ಣದ ಸಾಸಿವೆ ಲೇಪದಿಂದ ಮಲಿನಗೊಳಿಸಿದದ್ದನ್ನೂ ದೂರವಿಡಬೇಕು; ಇವು ಶಿವಪೂಜೆಯ ಶುದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ತಡೆಯುತ್ತವೆ.
