Adhyaya 71: पुरत्रयवृत्तान्तः—ब्रह्मवरदानम्, मयकृतत्रिपुर-निर्माणम्, विष्णुमाया-धर्मविघ्नः, शिवस्तुति, त्रिपुरदाहोपक्रमः
सुखासीनौ ह्यसंभ्रान्तौ धर्मविघ्नार्थमव्ययौ एवं नष्टे तदा धर्मे श्रौतस्मार्ते सुशोभने
sukhāsīnau hyasaṃbhrāntau dharmavighnārthamavyayau evaṃ naṣṭe tadā dharme śrautasmārte suśobhane
ಸুখಾಸೀನರಾಗಿ, ಅಸಂಭ್ರಾಂತರಾಗಿ, ಅವ್ಯಯರಾದ ಆ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಧರ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಘ್ನ ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಲು ಪ್ರವೃತ್ತರಾದರು. ಹೀಗೆ ಶ್ರುತಿ‑ಸ್ಮೃತಿನಿಷ್ಠವಾದ ಶೋಭನ ಧರ್ಮವು ಆಗ ನಾಶವಾಯಿತು.
