Manvantaras, Indras, Saptarṣis, and the Seven Sustaining Manifestations; Vyāsa as Nārāyaṇa
ṣaḍete manavo 'tītāḥ sāṃprataṃ tu raveḥ sutaḥ / vaivasvato 'yaṃ yasyaitat saptamaṃ vartate 'ntaram
Traditional Purana narrator (Suta-style narration within the Kurma Purana’s discourse on cosmic chronology)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
This verse is primarily chronological, mapping the flow of Manvantaras; it implies the ordered governance of cosmic time under Dharma, within which realization of Atman is pursued in later teachings.
No specific yoga practice is taught in this line; it sets the cosmological framework (the current Vaivasvata Manvantara) in which Kurma Purana’s later disciplines—such as Pashupata-oriented devotion, dharma, and contemplative worship—are situated.
It does not directly address Shiva–Vishnu unity; instead, it establishes the shared Purana worldview of cyclic time and dharmic order, within which the text later harmonizes Shaiva and Vaishnava teachings.
