ಮಹಾಬಲ-ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯಾದ ದೈತ್ಯ ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕಶಿಪು ತಪಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಪರಮೇಷ್ಠಿ ದೇವ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸಿದನು. ದರ್ಶನ ಪಡೆದು, ನಾನಾವಿಧ ಸ್ತವಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ತುತಿಸಿ, ಅವನು ದಿವ್ಯ ವರಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದನು.
