FAQs

Kamalalaya is a name for Goddess Lakshmi, meaning 'She who resides in a lotus'.

According to orthodox Dharma Shastras, performing funeral rites for someone outside one's Varna, especially for remuneration, was considered a polluting act that degrades a Brahmana's spiritual standing.
