य एष षोडशकल: पुरुषो भगवान्मनोमयोऽन्नमयोऽमृतमयो देवपितृमनुष्यभूतपशुपक्षिसरीसृपवीरुधां प्राणाप्यायनशीलत्वात्सर्वमय इति वर्णयन्ति ॥ १० ॥

Transliteration

ya eṣa ṣoḍaśa-kalaḥ puruṣo bhagavān manomayo ’nnamayo ’mṛtamayo deva-pitṛ-manuṣya-bhūta-paśu-pakṣi-sarīsṛpa-vīrudhāṁ prāṇāpy āyana-śīlatvāt sarvamaya iti varṇayanti.

Translation

ಈ ಚಂದ್ರನು ಹದಿನಾರು ಕಲೆಯುಳ್ಳ ಪುರುಷರೂಪ ಭಗವಂತನ ಪ್ರಭಾವವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಅಧಿಷ್ಠಾತೃ ದೇವತೆಯಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ‘ಮನೋಮಯ’, ಔಷಧಿ-ವನಸ್ಪತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಶಕ್ತಿ ನೀಡುವುದರಿಂದ ‘ಅನ್ನಮಯ’, ಮತ್ತು ಸರ್ವ ಜೀವಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಜೀವದ ಮೂಲವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ‘ಅಮೃತಮಯ’ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ದೇವ, ಪಿತೃ, ಮನುಷ್ಯ, ಪ್ರಾಣಿ, ಪಕ್ಷಿ, ಸರೀಸೃಪ, ವೃಕ್ಷ-ಲತೆ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ತೃಪ್ತಿಪಡಿಸಿ ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ವ್ಯಾಪಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ ‘ಸರ್ವಮಯ’ ಎಂದೂ ವರ್ಣಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
