This verse shows that when providence becomes overwhelmingly strong, even capable beings lose their own power and become dejected—prompting them to seek shelter beyond mere strength.
Their own prowess was defeated by a stronger turn of destiny, so their confidence collapsed and they sat down with faded faces, preparing the ground for seeking divine guidance.
When effort does not yield results, the verse advises humility and reflection—recognizing higher forces at work and turning toward prayerful surrender and wise counsel rather than despair.
