Sukta 1

प्र यदेते प्रतरं पूर्व्यं गुः सदःसद आतिष्ठन्तो अजुर्यम्। कविः शुषस्य मातरा रिहाणे जाम्यै धुर्यं पतिमेरयेथाम्

prá yád eté prataráṃ pū́rvyaṃ gúḥ sádaḥ-sada ā́tiṣṭhanto ajúryam | kavíḥ śúṣasya mātárā rihāṇé jāmyaí dhuryáṃ pátim érayeथām |

When these went forth, more forward, in the ancient way, taking their stand from seat to seat upon the undecaying—(then) the Seer: the two Mothers, licking the young, should impel for the kinsman the lord fit for the yoke.

ಇವರು (ಇಬ್ಬರೂ) ಪುರಾತನ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟು, ಅಜರ್ಯ (ಅವಿನಾಶಿ) ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಸನದಿಂದ ಆಸನಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಂತಾಗ—ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕವಿ (ದೃಷ್ಟಾ) ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ: ಮರಿಗೆ ನಾಲಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಲಾಲಿಸುವ ಎರಡು ಮಾತೃಗಳು ಜಾಮ್ಯ (ಬಂಧು)ಗಾಗಿ ಯುಗಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯನಾದ ಪತಿಯನ್ನು/ಸ್ವಾಮಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಲಿ.
