Sthala Purana: Colophon marking completion of a ritual-vidhi chapter on worship of a self-made earthen liṅga; emphasizes accessibility of Śiva-upāsanā outside fixed kṣetras.
Significance: Frames the chapter as a portable ‘tīrtha-instruction’: by following the vidhi, any clean place can become a sanctified worship-site for receiving Śiva’s prasāda.
This is the chapter-colophon marking completion of a teaching on sādhana (practice): worship of the Pārthiva (earthen) Śiva-liṅga as a concrete, devotional means to approach Lord Śiva (Pati) and progress toward the spiritual goal (sādhya), i.e., purification and liberation.
By naming the chapter as “Pārthiva-Śiva-liṅga-pūjā-vidhi,” it affirms liṅga worship as a valid Saguna mode in the Shiva Purana—an accessible form through which the devotee offers reverence, mantra, and upacāras to the formless reality of Śiva.
It points to the disciplined practice of Pārthiva Liṅga Pūjā—forming a clay liṅga and worshipping it with devotion, typically supported by Śiva-mantra japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as the meditative core.
