It teaches that true auspiciousness for a Shaiva household is grounded in restraint and sattvic conduct; outer display is subordinated to inner purity and vow-based devotion (pativrata), which the Purana treats as a dharmic power supporting family well-being.
In Saguna Shiva devotion, the emphasis is on cultivating qualities pleasing to Shiva—simplicity, self-control, and dharma. The verse aligns household life with Shaiva worship by prioritizing inner discipline (a form of offering) over ornamentation.
A practical takeaway is vrata-like restraint and modest living, paired with Shaiva remembrance—daily japa of the Panchakshara ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and simple, sattvic observances—rather than focusing on external beautification.
