Sthala Purana: Colophon (iti) marking the close of Koṭirudrasaṃhitā chapter 35 on Śiva-sahasranāma; no site-legend content.

Significance: Textual closure used liturgically to seal pāṭha (recitation) and accrue śravaṇa/pāraṇa merit; reinforces continuity of paramparā transmission.

Mantra: iti śrīśivamahāpurāṇe caturthyāṃ koṭirudrasaṃhitāyāṃ śivasahasranāmavarṇanaṃ nāma pañcatriṃśodhyāyaḥ

FAQs

This is the chapter-colophon that seals the teaching: Śiva’s Sahasranāma is affirmed as a complete devotional practice (nāma-japa) that purifies the pashu (bound soul) and turns awareness toward Pati (Śiva), supporting liberation through bhakti and remembrance.

By concluding the “Śiva-sahasranāma-varṇana” chapter, it frames Saguna-upāsanā through names and attributes—an accessible form of worship that complements Liṅga-pūjā, where the same Śiva is adored through form (liṅga) and sound (nāma).

The implied practice is regular recitation of Śiva Sahasranāma as nāma-japa—ideally with purity, devotion, and steadiness; it may be paired with simple Śiva-upacāras like vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and mantra-oriented meditation.
