Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Tryambakeśvara
Jyotirlinga: Tryambakeśvara
Sthala Purana: The māhātmya emphasizes a fourfold devotional sequence—darśana, pūjā, praṇāma, stuti—culminating in sarva-pāpa-pramocana at Tryambaka.
Significance: Darśana and worship of the Jyotirliṅga with bhakti grants comprehensive purification, preparing the paśu (bound soul) for Śiva’s grace and higher realization.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that devotional darśana of the Tryambaka Jyotirliṅga—followed by pūjā, namaskāra, and stuti—purifies the soul and removes pāpa, supporting the Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis on Shiva’s grace responding to sincere bhakti.
The Jyotirliṅga is a sacred Saguna focus through which devotees approach the transcendent (Nirguna) Shiva; seeing, worshipping, and praising the liṅga becomes a direct, embodied means to receive Shiva’s anugraha (grace).
Perform liṅga-darśana with devotion, offer simple pūjā (water, bilva leaves, lamp), do praṇāma, and recite stuti/mantra such as the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” or the Tryambaka (Mahāmṛtyuñjaya) mantra.
