Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva’s yogic discipline as taught in the Kailasa Samhita)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches disciplined Shaiva yoga: rising at the pure pre-dawn hour and fixing awareness in the sahasrāra, where the Guru is contemplated as the revealer of Shiva-knowledge that cuts bondage (pāśa) and leads toward liberation.
While Linga worship is an outer support (saguṇa-upāsanā), this verse points to inner worship—meditating on the Guru in the crown-lotus as the doorway to realizing Shiva within, harmonizing external ritual with internal dhyāna.
Wake at brāhma-muhūrta, sit steadily, and perform dhyāna by visualizing the luminous Guru seated in the thousand-petalled lotus at the crown; this can be paired with japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) as a focused contemplative aid.
