Aindra praise of Indra’s irresistible might, affirmed through repeated soma-invitation and communal submission
Indra
Triumphal and urgent—commanding readiness and confident in Indra’s supremacy
Rṣi attributions are not supplied in the input; this dashati appears to be compiled by ritual/deity theme (Aindra) rather than by a single clearly identified family in the provided data.
Applied to soma-day pressings (savanas) emphasizing repeated libation and immediate preparation of freshly pressed soma.
Mantra 1
वयमेनमिदा ह्यो ऽपीपेमेह वज्रिणम् तस्मा उ अद्य सवने सुतं भरा नूनं भूषत श्रुते
We have, here, even yesterday, made him, the thunderbolt-bearer, to drink; therefore, indeed, to-day at the pressing bring the expressed (soma): now make it ready for the renowned (Indra) when invoked.
Mantra 2
वृकश्चिदस्य वारण उरामथिरा वयुनेषु भूषति सेमं न स्तोमं जुजुषाण आ गहीन्द्र प्र चित्रया धिया
Indra, though fierce as a wolf, the repeller (of foes), the wide-stirring, is glorified in the sacred ordinances; accepting graciously this our hymn of praise, come hither, with thy variously-illustrious purpose.
Mantra 3
यदीं गणस्य रशनामजीगः शुचिरङ्क्ते शुचिभिर्गोभिरग्निः आद्दक्षिणा युज्यते वाजयन्त्युत्तानामूर्ध्वो अधयज्जुहूभिः
When he hath set in motion the band’s binding (order), then Agni, pure, is anointed with pure ‘cows’ (bright rays/offerings); then the Dakṣiṇā is joined, bestowing strength; and, rising aloft, he offereth with the ladles.
It proclaims Indra’s overpowering force (manyu) before which all peoples bow, and it urges the singers to keep bringing and readying soma for him across the pressings.
Because Agni is the ritual carrier and purifier of offerings; his anointing and ladle-offering frame the sacrifice so Indra’s soma-invitation becomes effective and complete.
They point to the ongoing sequence of the soma-day’s offerings—Indra has been made to drink already, so the rite continues with fresh pressing and renewed invitation at the next savana.
