Towards the three-supported, vigorous (Soma), the seat of vital power, the voices have sounded; invested amid the wooden (implements), like Varuṇa, like a river-stream, the treasure-bestower dispenses excellent boons.

{ "prastava": "ō/hō-i (brief, to launch an energetic udgītha)", "udgitha": "abhi tripṛṣṭhaṃ vṛṣaṇaṃ vayodhāmāṅgoṣiṇam avāvaśanta vāṇīḥ", "pratihara": "vanā vasāno varuṇo na sindhuḥ", "upadrava": "vi ratnadhā dayate vāryāṇi", "nidhana": "ōm/hō (firm cadence)", "structure_notes": "Antiphony works well: the response highlights Varuṇa/river similes; the after-song delivers the ‘boon’ statement as payoff.", "singer_assignments": "Prastotṛ sets mode; Udgātṛ carries main and after-song; Pratihartṛ emphasizes the simile line; all close together." }

{ "gloss_summary": "‘vanā’ is read as wooden sacrificial apparatus (pressing boards, troughs), not forest; ‘sindhu’ denotes the Soma-current; ‘ratnadhāḥ’ is Soma as giver of fruits/fees/boons; the simile with Varuṇa underscores ordered flow.", "ritual_interpretation": "The chant accompanies Soma’s movement through implements; voices of priests are directed toward the vigorous Soma on its supports, invoking prosperity.", "theological_insight": "Soma’s power is not chaotic: like Varuṇa he is aligned with ṛta, and like a river he distributes life-giving wealth.", "etymology_highlights": "ratnadhā from ratna + √dhā (to place/bestow); sindhu as ‘stream’; vanā as ‘wooden things’ in yajña-diction." }
