Adhyaya 46 — Cosmic Dissolution, the Emergence of Brahma, and the Measures of Time (Yugas, Manvantaras, and Brahma’s Day)
tat-pramāṇaiva sā rātris tad-ante sṛjyate punaḥ | evaṃ tu brahmaṇo varṣam ekaṃ varṣa-śataṃ tu tat ||
Creation and dissolution are balanced phases; the teaching encourages equanimity—seeing beginnings and endings as paired movements within a larger order.
Sarga and Pratisarga together: dissolution in Brahmā’s night and renewed creation at its end; also supports Manvantara by situating it within the kalpa framework.
Equal day/night indicates symmetry of manifestation and withdrawal; contemplatively, it suggests that silence (nirodha) is as foundational as activity (pravṛtti).
