वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights ethical communication: in moments of strain, gentle, well-tuned speech (like music) and affectionate closeness can guide a powerful person toward restraint and right action, rather than provoking rashness.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Draupadī (Pāñcālī), drawing close to Bhīma and embracing him, speaks sweetly and persuasively—her words compared to a vīṇā playing a pleasing Gāndhāra mode—suggesting an intimate attempt to influence his response within the Virāṭa-period tensions.
