कृतयुगवर्णनम् तथा राजधर्मोपदेशः

मार्कण्डेय उदाच हन्त ते वर्णयिष्यामि नमस्कृत्वा स्वयम्भुवे । पुरुषाय पुराणाय शाश्वतायाव्ययाय च
Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca: hanta te varṇayiṣyāmi namaskṛtvā svayambhuve | puruṣāya purāṇāya śāśvatāyāvyayāya ca ||
ម៉ារកណ្ឌេយៈបានមានពាក្យថា៖ «ល្អហើយ—ស្តាប់ចុះ; ខ្ញុំនឹងពណ៌នាប្រាប់អ្នក។ ដំបូង ខ្ញុំនមស្ការចំពោះព្រះអម្ចាស់ស្វយម្ភូ—ព្រះបុរសបុរាណដើម—អស់កល្បជានិច្ច មិនចាស់មិនសាបសូន្យ—ហើយទើបចាប់ផ្តើម»។
