अस्तु शेषं कौरवाणां मा पराभूदिदं कुलम् | कुलघ्न इति नोच्येथा नष्टकीर्ति्नराधिप,“नरेश्वर! कौरववंश बचा रहे, इस कुलका पराभव न हो और तुम भी अपनी कीर्तिका नाश करके कुलघाती न कहलाओ
astu śeṣaṃ kauravāṇāṃ mā parābhūd idaṃ kulam | kulaghna iti nocyethā naṣṭakīrtir narādhipa ||
វៃសម្បាយនៈបាននិយាយថា៖ «សូមឲ្យអ្វីដែលនៅសល់នៃកោរវៈបានស្ថិតស្ថេរ; កុំឲ្យវង្សនេះរលំរលាយ។ កុំឲ្យគេហៅអ្នកថា ‘អ្នកសម្លាប់វង្សខ្លួនឯង’ ឡើយ—ឱ ព្រះមហាក្សត្រ កុំបំផ្លាញកិត្តិយសរបស់អ្នក ដោយនាំវិនាសមកលើគ្រួសាររបស់អ្នក»។
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse urges restraint and responsibility: a ruler should protect the continuity of the family/lineage and avoid actions that would brand him a destroyer of his own clan, since such conduct violates ethical duty and ruins lasting reputation.
In Vaiśaṃpāyana’s narration, an admonition is voiced to a kingly figure: preserve what remains of the Kaurava line and do not bring about the clan’s downfall, lest you be remembered with dishonor as a ‘kulaghna’ (clan-slayer).
