भीष्म उवाच विस्तीर्णैषा कथा राजन् श्रुता मे पितृसंनिधौ । यैषा तव हि वक्तव्या कथासारो हि सा मता
bhīṣma uvāca vistīrṇaiṣā kathā rājan śrutā me pitṛsaṃnidhau | yaiṣā tava hi vaktavyā kathāsāro hi sā matā ||
ភីស្ម បានមានព្រះបន្ទូលថា៖ «ឱ ព្រះមហាក្សត្រ! រឿងនេះវែងឆ្ងាយណាស់; ខ្ញុំបានស្តាប់វានៅជិតព្រះបិតារបស់ខ្ញុំ។ ទោះយ៉ាងណា រឿងដែលត្រូវប្រាប់ចំពោះអ្នកនៅពេលនេះ ត្រូវបានគេចាត់ទុកថាជាសារសំខាន់បំផុតនៃរឿងរ៉ាវទាំងអស់—បង្រួមឲ្យនៅតែសារធម៌ ដោយមិនពង្រីកឥតចាំបាច់»។
