Educational Q&A

Self-knowledge is presented as the culmination of all learning: one who realizes the indwelling Self in all beings thereby comprehends the Vedas, the knowable, ritual injunctions, interpretive meaning, and ultimate truth; such a realized person becomes spiritually eminent, even attracting the reverence of the gods.

In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on peace and liberation, Vyāsa delivers a doctrinal statement elevating the knower of the universal indwelling Self above mere textual or ritual mastery, portraying divine beings themselves as eager to honor and serve such a sage.
