ब्राह्मणस्य पूर्वतरा वृत्तिः — The Earlier Ideal Conduct of a Brahmana

कालस्तु बलवान प्राप्तस्तेन तिष्ठसि वासव । अन्यथा संसारमें कौन ऐसा वीर है

kālas tu balavān prāptas tena tiṣṭhasi vāsava | anyathā saṃsāre me ko nāma vīraḥ, yo yuddhe kupito mama sammukhaṃ tiṣṭhet | indra! balavān kālo 'dṛṣṭaḥ mayi samākrāntaḥ, tasmāt tvaṃ mama sammukhe tiṣṭhasi ||

ភីṣ្មៈបាននិយាយថា៖ «កាលៈដ៏ខ្លាំងក្លា និងមិនអាចទប់ទល់បាន បានមកលើខ្ញុំ; ដូច្នេះហើយ អ្នក ឱ វាសវ (ឥន្ទ្រា) ទើបអាចឈរនៅមុខខ្ញុំបាន។ បើមិនដូច្នោះទេ ក្នុងលោកនេះ តើមានវីរបុរសណាអាចឈរប្រឈមមុខខ្ញុំក្នុងសង្គ្រាម នៅពេលខ្ញុំខឹងក្រហាយ? ឥន្ទ្រា! កាលៈដ៏មានអំណាច—វាសនាដែលមើលមិនឃើញ—បានវាយប្រហារខ្ញុំ; ដូច្នេះអ្នកទើបឈរនៅចំពោះមុខខ្ញុំ»។
