Bhīmasena’s Eastern Digvijaya and the Cedi Reception
Sabhā-parva 26
iti śrīmahābhārate sabhāparvaṇi digvijayaparvaṇi arjunadigvijaye bhagadattaparājaye ṣaḍviṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ
As a colophon, the verse does not teach through direct instruction; it frames the episode ethically by situating conquest (digvijaya) within the responsibilities of kingship—power is pursued to establish order, yet it is bounded by rightful conduct, strategy, and the reality of resistance.
This is the chapter-ending colophon stating that, in the Sabhā Parva’s digvijaya narrative, the account of Arjuna’s campaign includes the defeat of Bhagadatta, and that this is chapter 26.
