अध्याय १: महाप्रस्थानारम्भः
The Commencement of the Great Departure
श्वा चैवानुययावेक: प्रस्थितान् पाण्डवान् वनम् | क्रमेण ते ययुर्वीरा लौहित्यं सलिलार्णवम्
śvā caivānuyayāv ekaḥ prasthitān pāṇḍavān vanam | krameṇa te yayur vīrā lauhityaṃ salilārṇavam ||
វៃសម្បាយនៈបាននិយាយថា៖ នៅពេលបណ្ឌវទាំងឡាយចេញដំណើរទៅព្រៃក្នុងដំណើរចុងក្រោយ សត្វឆ្កែមួយក្បាលក៏ដើរតាមពួកគេផងដែរ។ ដោយដើរទៅតាមជំហានៗ វីរបុរសទាំងនោះបានទៅដល់ទឹកនៃលោហិត្យ—ដូចសមុទ្រធំ—ជាខ្សែព្រំមួយទៀតក្នុងផ្លូវលះបង់របស់ពួកគេ។
