उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
न वैनतेयो गरुड: प्रशंसति महाजनम् । दृष्टवा सुपर्णोडपचितिं महत्या अपि भारत,भारत! सुन्दर पंखोंवाले विनतानन्दन गरुड़ विशाल सेनाका भी विनाश होता देखकर अधिक जनसमूहकी प्रशंसा नहीं करते हैं
na vainateyo garuḍaḥ praśaṃsati mahājanam | dṛṣṭvā suparṇoḍapacitiṃ mahatyā api bhārata ||
វ្យាសបានមានព្រះវាចា៖ «សូម្បីតែវៃណតេយៈ គឺគរុឌ—បុត្រស្លាបស្រស់នៃវិនតា—ក៏មិនសរសើរហ្វូងមនុស្សធំទេ។ ព្រោះ ឱ ភារតៈ ទោះបានឃើញការបំផ្លាញយ៉ាងធំធេងនៃកងទ័ពដ៏ខ្លាំងក្លា ក៏អ្នកប្រាជ្ញមិនលើកតម្កើងតែចំនួនទេ; ពួកគេគោរពការយល់ឃើញត្រឹមត្រូវ និងធម៌ប្រព្រឹត្តល្អ ជាងចំនួន»។
