The Duty to Fulfill Promised Gifts
यां रात्रि जायते जीवो यां रात्रि च विनश्यति । एतस्मिन्नन्तरे यद् यत् सुकृतं तस्य भारत
bhīṣma uvāca |
yāṃ rātri jāyate jīvo yāṃ rātri ca vinaśyati |
etasminn antare yad yat sukṛtaṃ tasya bhārata bharatanandana |
ភីស្មា បានមានព្រះវាចា៖ «ឱ កូនចៅនៃភរត! ជីវិតកើតនៅរាត្រីណា ហើយវិនាសនៅរាត្រីណា—នៅចន្លោះរាត្រីទាំងពីរនោះ អំពើបុណ្យណាណាដែលគេបានធ្វើក្នុងជីវិត នឹងត្រូវលុបបាត់។ អ្វីៗទាំងអស់ដែលគេបានសម្រេចដោយយជ្ញៈ (បូជាហោម), ទាន និងតបៈ ត្រូវបានបំផ្លាញដោយបាបនៃការបំពានលើពាក្យសច្ចៈដ៏ខ្ពង់ខ្ពស់»
