शूरा बहुविधा: प्रोक्तास्तेषामर्थास्तु मे शृणु । शूरान्वयानां निर्दिष्ट फलं शूरस्य चैव हि
bhīṣma uvāca | śūrā bahuvidhāḥ proktās teṣām arthāṁs tu me śṛṇu | śūrānvayānāṁ nirdiṣṭaṁ phalaṁ śūrasya caiva hi ||
ភីស្មៈបានមានព្រះបន្ទូលថា៖ «វីរបុរសមានច្រើនប្រភេទ ត្រូវបានពណ៌នាហើយ។ ឥឡូវ ចូរស្តាប់ខ្ញុំ ខណៈដែលខ្ញុំពន្យល់អត្ថន័យដែលមានបំណងនោះ។ ខ្ញុំនឹងប្រាប់ផងដែរ អំពីផលដែលបានកំណត់ទុក—ទាំងសម្រាប់កូនចៅនៃវីរបុរសទាំងនោះ និងសម្រាប់វីរបុរសខ្លួនឯង»។
