वृत्तिग्लाने सीदति चातिमात्रं कृष्यर्थ वा होम्यहेतो: प्रसूते: । गुर्वर्थ वा बालसंवृद्धये वा धेनुं दद्याद् देशकालेडविशिष्टे
vṛttiglāne sīdati cātimātraṃ kṛṣyarthaṃ vā homyahetoḥ prasūteḥ | gurvarthaṃ vā bālasaṃvṛddhaye vā dhenuṃ dadyād deśakāle ’viśiṣṭe ||
ភីષ្មបាននិយាយថា៖ ទោះបីមិនមានកាលៈទេសៈពិសេសណាមួយក៏ដោយ គួរបរិច្ចាគគោទឹកដោះមួយក្បាលដល់ព្រាហ្មណ៍ដែលជីវភាពបានធ្លាក់ចុះ ហើយកំពុងទទួលទុក្ខលំបាកយ៉ាងខ្លាំង។ ដូចគ្នានេះផងដែរ ទោះនៅក្នុងលក្ខខណ្ឌធម្មតា ក៏សមរម្យក្នុងការបរិច្ចាគគោទឹកដោះ នៅពេលត្រូវការសម្រាប់កសិកម្ម សម្រាប់សម្ភារៈប្រើក្នុងពិធីហោម/យញ្ញ សម្រាប់ចិញ្ចឹមស្ត្រីទើបសម្រាលកូន សម្រាប់គ្រូទក្ខិណា ឬសម្រាប់ការចិញ្ចឹមកុមារ។
