Educational Q&A

Protecting devotees, loyal followers, and especially those who seek refuge—while maintaining compassion toward all beings—is presented as a dharmic duty that yields spiritual merit and happiness in the hereafter.

Śyena addresses Yudhiṣṭhira with ethical counsel, urging him to emulate the ideal protector: to give even everything he has for the sake of those who come seeking shelter, because such guardianship and universal compassion lead to posthumous well-being.
