भीष्म उवाच
Protection and well-being are sought by remembering and honoring the sustaining powers of the world—sacred mountains, the ordered directions, the earth, and life-giving trees—reflecting a dharmic attitude of reverence toward the cosmos rather than reliance on ego or violence.
Bhīṣma continues a long enumerative benediction/invocation, calling upon sacred natural and cosmic entities to grant protection; this verse specifically invokes Somagiri and other mountains, the quarters and intermediate quarters, the earth, and all trees.
