Umā–Maheśvara Saṃvāda
एतेन विधिना मर्त्य: श्रद्धधान: समाहित: । चतुरो वार्षिकान् मासान् यो ददाति तिलोदकम्
Dhaumya uvāca: etena vidhinā martyaḥ śraddadhānaḥ samāhitaḥ | caturo vārṣikān māsān yo dadāti tilodakam ||
ធោម្យៈ បានមានព្រះបន្ទូលថា៖ «មនុស្សស្លាប់មិនរួចណា ដែលមានសទ្ធា និងចិត្តប្រមូលផ្តុំ បើអនុវត្តតាមវិធីនេះ—ក្នុងរយៈពេលបួនខែរដូវវស្សា បូជាទឹកលាយគ្រាប់ល្ងជូនបិត្រ—នោះនឹងទទួលបានបុណ្យធម៌ដ៏ធំធេង។ ព្រះបន្ទូលនេះលើកស្ទួយកាតព្វកិច្ចចំពោះបិត្រ (pitṛ-tarpaṇa) ដែលធ្វើដោយស្មោះត្រង់ និងសមាធិជាប់ជានិច្ច មិនមែនដោយការបង្ហាញខាងក្រៅទេ ថាជាមធ្យោបាយដ៏មានអានុភាពក្នុងការប្រមូលផលធម៌។
