Dāna–Tapaḥ Praśaṃsā and Gṛhastha-Upadeśa
Maitreya
अचिरेणैव कालेन कीट: पार्थिवसत्तम | प्रजापालनधर्मेण प्रेत्य विप्रत्वमागत:
acireṇaiva kālena kīṭaḥ pārthiva-sattama | prajā-pālana-dharmeṇa pretya vipratvam āgataḥ ||
ភីෂ្មៈបានមានព្រះវាចា៖ «ឱ ព្រះរាជាដ៏ប្រសើរបំផុត! ក្នុងពេលមិនយូរ សត្វតូចនោះ (ដែលធ្លាប់ជាគីត) ដោយបានប្រតិបត្តិធម៌នៃការពារនិងគ្រប់គ្រងប្រជាជនតាមធម៌ បានស្លាប់ទៅ ហើយបន្ទាប់មកបានទទួលកំណើតក្នុងវង្សព្រាហ្មណ៍—នេះហើយជាអานุភាពនៃធម៌នៃរាជធម៌ដ៏សុចរិត»។

Bhīṣma tells Yudhiṣṭhira that a being who was formerly a worm practiced the dharma of protecting the people; after dying soon thereafter, he attained rebirth in a brāhmaṇa family as the fruit of that righteous conduct.
